I keep distributed systems fast, boring, and easy to ship to.
SRE at Surescripts working across Kubernetes, Confluent Kafka, and GCP, and the person developers call when they need infrastructure to make sense.
About
I'm a Site Reliability Engineer with three years designing and operating distributed systems in on-prem datacenters and GCP. Day to day that means Kubernetes, Confluent Kafka, GitOps with ArgoCD, and infrastructure-as-code across both Linux and Windows environments.
My path here wasn't a straight line: I started in software as an intern at 18, spent several years teaching biology and building Python curriculum, then came back to engineering full-time. Years of teaching showed me that people rarely struggle for lack of ability; they struggle when no one gives them the context. And having spent years as an application developer myself, I know how frustrating it is when infrastructure feels like a black box. That's why I care about closing the gap between platform teams and application developers, and why I'm good at it.

Site Reliability Engineer · Jul 2023 – Aug 2026
- Architect and operate GCP-based infrastructure for distributed, high-throughput services across Kubernetes clusters; cut deployment times and improved availability with ArgoCD-driven GitOps.
- Subject matter expert for Confluent Kafka, covering developer onboarding, cluster configuration, and operational playbooks for consumer lag, topic management, and integration patterns.
- Automate provisioning and configuration across Windows and Linux with Terraform and Ansible.
- Lead incident triage on a 24/7 on-call rotation; contribute to blameless post-mortems and ship fixes that reduce MTTR.
- Mentor application developers on CI/CD, Kubernetes deployment patterns, and infrastructure best practices, reducing dependency on the platform team.
- Drive integration of new services into Jenkins-based pipelines, improving deployment reliability across dozens of services.
Flatiron School
Senior Python Curriculum Developer
- Designed and maintained curriculum used by thousands of students nationwide: version control, data structures and algorithms, Python/Flask and SQLAlchemy backends, and JavaScript/React front ends.
- Partnered with instructors and instructional designers to keep content technically accurate and aligned with industry practice.
UT Austin & Pflugerville ISD
Teaching Specialist / Biology Teacher
- Led labs and discussion sections for Introductory Biology, Human Health & Disease, and Human Systems Physiology for hundreds of students per term.
- Taught Biology and Pre-AP Biology at a Title I high school.

Personal
I live in Denver with my wife, Phoebe, and our cat, Gustave. On Thursday nights you'll find me hosting Jeopardy! Bar League at Black Shirt Brewing, and most other nights I'm at the movies, trying to see every film that comes into theaters.
